About the Event
Frederick Law Olmsted (April 26, 1822 – August 28, 1903) was an American landscape architect, journalist, social critic, and public administrator. He is the architect of Lake Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is perhaps best known for the design and creation of Central Park in New York and the U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington, D.C. He heavily drew inspiration from European traditions and recognized the importance of developing distinctive landscape styles that aimed to accentuate the landscape rather than overshadow it. Olmsted’s legacy and influences on the city of Milwaukee’s Park development is still significant and impactful to this day.
The inspiration for this menu stems heavily from Olmsted's beginning as a farmer in New York and Connecticut prior to his landscape architecture career. He grew corn, cabbage, lima beans, peaches, plums, and had a fixation on fruit-bearing trees. The menu also has ingredients that can be found in parks that he helped design.
